About Mesquite Concrete Contractors
Mesquite Concrete Contractors handles residential flatwork in Mesquite and the east Dallas County suburbs: new driveways, patios, stamped surfaces, pool decks and pads, plus repair of slabs that have split, sunk or worn thin. Much of what homeowners here own was poured alongside houses from the 1950s through the 1980s, so a good share of our time goes to deciding what can be saved and what has to come out.
Two local problems we plan around
Clay that moves. Mesquite sits on Blackland Prairie clay. It swells after rain and shrinks and splits open in a dry summer, and a slab laid straight on it rides up and down with it. Crushed stone, steel and joints are how we answer that.
Heat at pour time. The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth puts the Dallas-area average first 100-degree day around July 1. A slab that dries out on top before it cures ends up weak and dusty, so warm-season pours start at daybreak and the new surface stays wet or covered.
From first call to finished slab
1. Site visit. Measurements, a look at drainage and soil, and photos of the old concrete. 2. Written price. Tear-out, base depth, slab thickness, steel, finish and sealer, each on its own line. 3. City check. We look up what Mesquite or your town asks for on that type of work and add it to the schedule. 4. Pour day. Compacted stone, forms pitched to drain, steel where the load calls for it, and joints cut while the slab is young. 5. Hand-off. Dates for foot traffic, cars and sealing, plus simple care notes.
